Greater Bangalore Water Supply Project (Fases I & II)

India, Bangalore

Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, is a bustling metropolis often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of India.” The project falls under the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme (CWSS) Stage IV, Phase II, and is set to benefit 2.7 million residents by 2021.

During Phase 1, Meinhardt offered project management consultancy services for the water distribution network’s installation across Bangalore’s municipal area. This included overseeing over 1,800 km of pipelines larger than 400 mm in diameter and about 115 km of mains above 600 mm in diameter. These efforts covered 95% of the city at commissioning and involved supervising the setup of 1.2 lakh household connections.

For Phase 2, Meinhardt continued to provide project management consultancy, focusing on establishing a water distribution network within Bangalore’s municipal limits. The team managed more than 1,200 km of pipelines up to 450 mm in diameter along with the GSR/ESR network. This expansion aimed to increase the water supply coverage to 95% of the city upon completion.
